Rosie Erin Marks the Release of ‘Denial’ at The Folklore Rooms
A sunshine-filled Sunday evening and a sold-out Folklore Rooms; everything was falling into place. The occasion already felt significant with Rosie Erin releasing her debut single ‘Denial’ earlier that day, it was set to be a magical performance.
Dressed in a blue denim dress with a matching guitar over her shoulder, she opened the set with a cover of ‘Flicker’ by Tiny Habits, instantly drawing the room in before moving into her own originals, ‘Frostbite’ and ‘Willow’. Her warm vocals moved effortlessly between soft folk melodies and subtle country influences, at times recalling early Kacey Musgraves.
Joined by a full band - Sophie Evans on bass, Liv White on piano, Oscar Salaman on drums, and Emma Semple on violin - the performance felt rich and uplifting throughout. The arrangements gave each song an added warmth, every instrument weaving together naturally to create a sound that felt intimate. A personal touch was a cover of ‘Make it Holy’ by The Staves, one of Rosie’s favourites, followed by an unreleased track ‘Lady Grey’, recently recorded with Brighton’s Agenda Collective.
Closing the set with her debut single ‘Denial’, Rosie showcased the storytelling that makes her songwriting so engaging. Soft piano, delicate violin and bittersweet lyrics made the track feel perfectly suited to a warm summer evening. The atmosphere in the room reflected just how much support Rosie already has around her. Every CD sold out, cheers followed every song, and even an improvised cover of ‘Subway’ by Chappell Roan was met with huge applause.
It felt special to witness an artist so clearly loved by the people around her. It already feels like Rosie Erin is building something special, and ‘Denial’ marks an exciting start.
